Default LOL, wierd, i just went through this an hour ago.. heres the trick

I couldnt get it over the cam sprocket no matter how hard i tried, so i took off the water pump, lined up my marks on the cam then sliped the belt on, then i put the belt on the water pump and threaded the bolts in. Just tighten them all up evenly like you did before, and let the bolts do the work for you. Good luck brother :-)

Default Just got it done, removed the roller from the damper slipped belt over....

crankshaft sprocket and replaced roller. The engine mount bracket is sure a pain, always in the way. Water pump and tension roller were in good shape, damper wasn't, pin hole had rotated 90 degrees so I coundn't compress it. Have 63k on the car. Also installed a VF motor mount.

Default I know its too late now but that final piece of the engine mount DOES come out the bottom easily.

it comes out and goes back in between (in sequence) the water pump and the tension roller.

That thing was driving me nuts until I accidently moved it to just the right orientation and it dropped out onto the garage floor by itself.

All the writeups I'd read said it wouldnt come out...They are all in error....at least where a 02 225 roadster is concerned.
The correct sequence is:

coming out = waterpump>engine mount>tensioner assy

Going back in = tensioner assy>engine mount>waterpump.

Once the water pump is out of the way, you can rotate the engine mount clockwise and it will come right out the bottom.

Hopefully the next guy will see this and save himself a some tedium.

Also, I found the new belt tension very tight as well but solved that by working the belt onto the WP and the Crank sprockets simulteaneously while rocking the crank sprocket back and forth a tiny bit with a 19mm box wrench.

Also found that my old standby trick of clamping the new belt in place on the Camshaft pulley with a pair of spring clamps applies here nicely too. I used the Office Depot variety.

If you do this part first you dont have to keep checking the camshaft marks are still lined up. <img src="http://pictureposter.audiworld.com/60268/img_0081small.jpg">

Default I also had the engine mount fall out of the bottom which made everything better.

I used vicegrips to hold the belt to the cam sprocket. Removed the roller from the damper got the belt in place then replaced engine mount and installed small roller.
