Window Woes
some of you may have seen my thread RE: Window not going up etc -
http://www.tt-forum.co.uk/ttforumbbs/viewtopic.php?t=59850&start=0
or a short recap
-Drivers door window would not close
-Took door card off and pulled up a bit
-Took regulator out of door, and untangled Boden cable, although it was so fraid, its useless now. So intead left motor disconnected.
-Started car, shut doors, locked doors. Smoke came from drivers side at window switch relay. Switched off car !
-Opened passenger window too, but then that wouldn't close. Took panel off that side, and manually closed window.
-Reconnected motor on drivers side - smoke stopped
-Got out of car, turned on alarm. and Car went mardi - Lights flashed, doors locked unlocked.
-Disconnected battery for 1 week.
-Eventually reconnected battery, removed fuse for central locking, and drove to Dealers.
We ended up waiting for a appointment with Audi to fix the car. Dropped it to them on 12/4 with full details of what was wrong with it.
We got the car back on the 14/4 for a bill of ^138, nothing fixed, and the windows just wedged shut.
Heres the job info on our receipt.
JOB Details :
Plugged car on would not go into 35-46. Removed Door panels to check if blocked connectors on motors - They were.
Replaced 2 blown fuses. Replaced Fuse 3 - 8 Fuse Blew - Lights flickered first then blew. Fuse 38 is for central locking ECU.
Tried new central locking control unit to see if it is blowing fuses - not control unit nor are the motors blowing fuses. Car requires
D/S/F window regulator for glass 110 euro and 2 hours labour at 79.50 p/hour plus VAT at 13.5%. Central locking Major fault. Would Quote
6 Hours Labour for same. Car needs to be re-booked.
How nice

I also got a copy of the computer read out of the car.

So now we have the car re-booked for next Monday, but from the looks of it. We are initially looking at ^250 to fix the window regulator, and a possible 480 in labour to work out what is wrong with the central locking of the car, and who knows how much more money to repair it.
Does anyone have any ideas ? Will a refit of the regulator solve the problem completely ?
