Default Lot's o' limp mode at TT-West...

Seems like a few folks had overboost problems causing cars to go into limp mode. Please post your experience here. Perhpas there is a common theme and we can figure out what was happening?

It's clear that cars would boost higher in the thin air since the Bosch Motronic system is based on mass air flow. Less mass per unit volume at altitude so pressure has to be higher to compensate.

Even on stock settings, I was at 1.2 bar when this never goes above 1.0 bar when below 5K ft.

I did not expererience issues, have Revo, BM disconnected, was at LB9 T1 then went to stock for the ride back from Telluride given reports of other folks running at stock settings.

Default I'm GIAC 91 programming - and spiked to 25psi but held 21psi consistently

under load in all gears. No limp mode problems at all and the car ran great the whole time. Don't have ANY idea why you Revo guys were having problems. However - I run 91 craptane all the time so.....

Default APR 92/stock here. Had it in chip mode until Saturday...>>

after the photo shoot. Then boost peaked at 24psi and limp she went. After Telluride car was ok so I moved it to stock mode until I got back to the hotel. Only boost problem I had.

Default I got my first limp mode in Utah on high heat (114 +/-), but not super high altitude.

I got MANY instances once in CO. Backed the timing down to stock. On the ride to four corners, I got it again 3-4 times. Resorted to turning the car off and back on while driving to get boost back. After we got back to the hotel that night, I dialed boost down to stock. No problems after that. I did have my BM installed, and even when stock I hit up to 20 psi sometimes (usually 12-15, though). Common theme for me was the limp came at the end of a WOT event when going through the gears. Usually on a 3-4 change. I have never had a limp mode issue prior to this trip.

I am running REVO...

Default REVO'd for 3 years. Kept losing turbo above 5k RPM. So did another REVO'd 225 with me.

This is new for me. I live at 8K elevation in CO and never had this problem. CarSluTT says it might be the turbo ready to go. Others say crack in hose that we can't seem to verify. Some say MAF. I put it back in stock mode and it doesn't throw a code. Some boost is better than freakin' limp mode. Code was:

17964 - Charge Pressure Control: Negative Deviation P1556 - 35-00

Default Revo'd on Friday with timing set to 3 and boost 6...>>>>

Ran great all Friday and Saturday up to the stop after Red Mountain Pass. I was in soft limp after restarting the car and drove it that way into Durango. I used your SPS3 (thanks again, Bob!) to set to stock and back to performance and all was good. No problems since.

I don't have my boost gauge installed yet so I can say what I was running, but I was definitely running in the 3500-5000 RPM range most of the way out of Ouray.

Default I had an incident with my bone stock engine

Had no trouble with the drives Fri & Sat but on the drive home Sun AM I took the same route west from Durango via route 550 towards Mesa Verde. Put the car on cruise at 70 mph to go up that first mountain out of Durango. Got to near the top of the mountain and the car went into severe limp mode (1K rpm max). Did an immediate U-turn and coasted to the Doubletree. ECP and ESP lights were on but no CEL??? Saw nothing obvious under the hood, restarted the car which cleared the limp mode, and had no further problems driving home. However, I did decide not to test the mountains again so I went south on 160 instead. I was in the Durango area a few years ago with my TT and the only problem I had in the mountains then was my engine surging slightly while in cruise while mountain climbing.
