Default I can't remove my radio!!!!

Argh! So I made home made tools.. no go. Figured I didn't know what I was doing, radio was stuck, etc. Dealer replaced radio, so it was no biggie.

Fast foward.. bought the correct tools (angled tip ones, not rounded) from 42nd Draft (have 2 extras if someone wants as they come in sets of four). And I follow their instructions to the "T"... insert, feel the click, etc. But I see no way to pull the radio out.

If I pull on the tools, they just release and get pulled out of the slots. I don't see anything else to grip and the radio isn't easily releasing.

I've tried several times slowly, fast, pushing inward, pushing out, etc. I have them pointed the proper direction (flat side of the tool on the outside of the radio, right?) and it feels like it is pusing in a sping loaded tab, but nothing happens.

Any help?

Default same thing happened to me, turns out that the clips were broken and the deck would just

slide in and out by pulling it out with my fingers from both sides of the tape deck, give that a shot...

Default I had the same problem the first time I tried to remove my radio.....

Chances are that the tools are working, however the radio is just wedged into place. I had to use a plastic trim tool to wedge into each side of the radio in order to pry it out. As long as you use plastic tools to do this you will not scratch or damage the area around the radio. The next time I removed my radio it came out a lot easier than the first time. Good Luck. Mine was a PITA!!!

Default It can be tricky. Try pushing down on the tools as you pull out.

If you see a picture of what you are trying to do, it is easier to understand. I had the same issue: I would slide the tools in, they click, and then when I would pull, it would skip off the tabs. I found that if I put downward pressure on the tools as I pulled, they kept a firmer grip on the springs.

Default Be careful not to push the tool in too far especially on the left side of radio...>>>

I made that mistake when using the home made tool out of file folder hangers and I accidentally pushed the tool in too far on the left side slot and it ended up shorting out the fuse that is located in the back of the radio. I kinda freaked out cause I still couldn't get the radio out with the tools and then also had a dead radio so either way, the bitch had to come out. I ended up prying the radio out carefully at each end since the tool damaged the clips that are supposed to help slide the radio out.

I had the same problem and then just cut the slots a little deeper and they worked fine then.
