Shock bolt question: Is it ok to substitute the bolt>>
For some reason installing V3 shocks on the rear caused the bolt(pictured on the right) to come up way short. The bushings were a lot thicker on the KW shock than stock shock causing the bolt to not make it halfway through the control arm.
I called the dealership and found a longer one that is used for the A4 same metric size (10.9N) but slightly longer. The only possible issue is that the bolt is threaded all the way to the top. The parts guys at the dealership say it's no problem but I trust you all on the forum more so I just wanted to confirm it before I drive around with the car.
Here it is:

I should have taken a pic of the stock shock and KW V3's.
I can tell you that there was an additional thickness 2-3mm on each side of a single shock.
That is a drastic difference and would definitely prevent stock bolt from working at all.
Thanks for clarifying that Steve!
I'm off to do my test drives.
