Default Hi Folks (question about Fan Control Module)

Ok about 3 days ago the one of the fans went out - I havent had time to get to the dealership and the car wasnt over heating.

Here is what is strange, at least to a car "ignorant" person like me I admit it lol...
I pressed the two buttons on the ac unit and went to 49 so I could see my temp while driving. If the heater was off, and I was driving - the car went to 105/110c... If I turned the heater on, and I was driving the car went to 94/95. As soon as I came off the high way with in about 7 seconds (roughly) with the heater on it went to 110!

When I pulled into my house usually the fans kick in, and 3 days ago only one was doing it. Now, neither of them are coming on. Still sound like the fan control module?

Any help would be greatly appreciated, and if someone lives in Orlando/Longwood that could maybe take a look I would SINCERLEY appreciate it! I am car stupid that is for sure!

(edit) sorry... Anyone have some changing instructions for the fan control? I did a search, found everything under the sun, except for the complexity.

Actually, it could be your temp sensor, a $6 fix.

That was replaced some time back - but I guess I could try that.

If I could find someone in Florida that could assist me with install lol. Again I can break the simplest of installs, im horrible!

The other question is, if the fan module goes - would one fan not work - then three days the other die? Or could the whole fan assembly be dead instead? I guess it's hard to assess that.

hmm

I try to find the simple fix first. Can you run VAG-COM?

Default prob'ly don't need VAG-Com, as the HVAC is telling you the temps... >>

I agree I'd try the temp sensor, just because it's cheap and easy. But my guess is a stuck thermostat or fan control module.

The temp spike shortly after exiting the highway is normal, but I don't like the 110C temp (mine goes to 102~104C but my thermostat is sticking or opens sluggishly... as soon as the fans come on, mine drops to 97-98C). Maybe I should check the fan control module too, although my symptoms started as soon as the t-stat was replaced.

Default I hear you... Right when I came off of the interstate

It immediately and I mean IMMEDIATELY went from 94 to 110! It was late, no traffic - made it through the light and as I hit the gas, it went down again. It's strange, prior to that I would turn the heather on and the temp dropped and stayed down - but the fan isn't coming on at all now, when the car is off as well...

Mind you it did start with one fan dying out - then this one died out. Sigh.........
