Elbow deep in 60K service.
Remaining to complete on the service are: change the cabin air filter, lube the doors etc, annnnd the Timingbelt job. I've got the kit from dieselgeek to do it, but I'm a slightly intimidated. I did the same job on my CGT years ago with some help. I've read the walkthroughs and have the tools, but messing this car up would be a totally different thing than messing up my $1000 coupe. Any words of encouragement?
The job is not that tough, really most of the effort is in disassembling everything so you can get at it. The writeups and tips are invaluable - the Bently is almost useless. What would I do different? In the actual "rolling on" of the TB, I rolled it on the cam rotating the engine backwards. In re-reading the tips, I should have been rolling it on the waterpump rotating forwards. And put two whiteout marks on both the cam and crank gears. Also, the DG waterpump removal works brilliantly, just tighten evenly and when the head of the tool hits the waterpump you are done - just pull the waterpump off - if you go further the heads will snap off - no biggie...
One other tool I found invaluable was a 12" pair of curved hemostats to hold bolts and screws during reassembly...
The job took under 12 hours, taking my time, by myself (except for the actual TB roll-on, where you need someone to turn the crank)
Go for it!!!!!
