Decreased MPG...suddenly...
Hi all,
2002 TT 180 FWD 5speed
80000 miles on the engine.
No mods except Injen INTAKE.
I have had the intake for about 1.5 years. There was no real difference in MPG.
I have generally average 320 miles for each full fish tank (since I have owned the car...4 years now), but suddenly the last 3 - 5 gas tanks have average 265 mile per gallons.
I change oil my oil every 5000 miles. I pretty much baby my car. I don't drive it hard. I generally shift about 3500rpm.
The cars performance seems to be NORMAL...before and after the MPG problem.
What could it be?

air conditioning? It has been hoTT!
No expert here, but turbo dependent cars may work a bit harder and thus more inefficiently when it's hotter out and less dense air tickles the turbo. Then there's heat soak and other inefficiencies that come with heat. Just a guess.

Nope...the last for years the car has survived Texas summers and the drive from LA to Houston twice...it has always averaged at least 310 miles on a full tank at the worst...
