Default 2001-2003 Used TTs

I am currently searching for the perfect 01-03 TT quattro roadster. I am somewhat familiar with this year range, but I was wondering if anyone could shed some light on a few questions I had:

1. Were there any significant recalls to this year range of TTs?

2. Are there any specific items I should be looking for that typically break/fail/fade on used models from these years?

3. Is there any major changes that occured between these years that should sway me to buy a newer or older model?

Thanks for any input that anyone has it is greatly appreciated. Also if anyone is selling a car in this range, is the Southern California area, and has treated the car as an audi fanatic, please let me know.

-D

Default The newer the better

Although I had an 01 with few problems, it was the first year for the roadsTTer so that year had some initial production issues. Make sure the timing belt and water pump have been replaced. They are 5 year/60K mile parts irrespective of what the manual says. Make sure the instrument cluster works perfectly. Any creaking from the front going over a speed bump means the stabilizer bushings are shot.

02 was the first year for Homelink remote controls. If you have never owned a convertible, I personally avoid black interiors due to the heat they create on sunny days. The brown baseball interior is awesome (if you can find it, it is scarce) and you will get more comments about it than the car.
