Default I have close to $500..I am ready to Chip my 180, Revo?

I have a 180 HP model, and my car is totally stock engine wise and plan to leave it that way (except for a chip). Been looking at the REVO and the claim of 232 lbs/ft of torque is amazing.
Question is, can I just get my car chipped and leave the rest of the engine the way it is (exhaust, intake, etc)? There is also an authorized dealer about 5 miles away, I am thinking about their "trial" offer (after 5 days, what exactly happens to my ECU)? Should I be concerened about reliability? The last thing I need is a CEL or a bad MAF..What about APR or GIAC? Can anyone with a chipped 180 provide feedback if its worth doing? Thanks.

Default Chipping will put a marginal MAF over the edge. I'd build up a little buffer so you

could replace the MAF and possibly the DV if needed.

Default You don't NEED any other mods, no...>>

though the exhaust (specifically DP and catback on your car) and intake will help maximize the benefits chipping will bring. Other parts of the car will be under more strain generally after you chip, but nothing to worry about assuming that your car bascially is in good health. Most likely to fail after you chip will be your DV, but if it ain't broke now...might as well stick with stock until it does, then replace it with a good aftermarket piece. I'd recomemnd the Hyperboost HX compact.
I had a FWD 180 and chipping is WELL worth it, I went with GIAC and had no problems except when I used the J version of the N75, which caused some limp mode events. I have it on my 2.0T GTI now, and again no troubles.

Default I too have a 180 QC with REVO

It is the best thing I could have done to the car short of affording a brand new 225 at the time.(bought my 180 new in Aug '02) If you check my limited sig you'll see that I've made up in performance the difference in a stock 225 for $4000 less if I purchased brand new in '02. The only thing different I would have done was get the rear sway bar much sooner than I did. It's been very reliable, in terms of major work, only a bad water pump in almost 5 years. I've had a coil pack go bad but that's minor and has nothing to do with the chip.

Default I love my Revo...go get the trial nothing happens when it reverts back to stock.....

it just reverts back to stock.IMO I would definitely change the DV if you are going to chip the car because they are so prone to failure even with stock boost level's....that said I have a Forge 007 polished DV for sale....$75 including the tuning kit with springs shims and shipping

180 w/ APR. I love everyday. Never had a CEL b/c of the chip.
