Default please help!!! trouble codes this doesnt look good.

my engine light came on and i took it to autozone for a diagnostic. this is what came up:
p0118
p0507
p1340

p0118 says something about engine coolant temp sensor is higher than expected.

p0507 engine rpm is higher than expected

p1340 camshaft position sensor b circuit malfunction or ckp cmp sensor signals out of sequence.

all these codes didnt bring up audi exactly, they brought up OBDII and volkswagen. im assuming they prolly mean the same for audi.

if someone could please help, this does not look good at all.

Default First clear them...>>

and see if they come back

1) you should update the temp sensor if you haven't. Cheap and easy

2) High idle could be a Vac line leak somewhere

3) Cam sensor could be a fluke, or, if a Timing belt was recently replaced, it could be a tooth off..

Default Re: First clear them...>>

is the temp sensor something i can buy at autozone or anything, or is that something needing to come from audi? i dont know how to change it out. i hate sounding likea total moron but cars arent my thing...but i guess it should be...

havent changed the timing belt lately. it has 77k miles and not sure if if its been replaced. i bought it with 75k. i took it to audi and they said everything looked good in regards to the timing belt.

Default Nothing is good about a timing belt with 77K on it..>>

YOu can't predict a water pump or tensioner failure by looking at the belt. You're basically driving a time bomb. MANY faiures from 60K on up. If it goes figure $3-4,000 to repair. The temp sensor is easy enough (dealer item), but it sounds like you need to find a dealer or independent and get some work done. Click on the FAQ in my sig for lots of how-to's..
