Headlight Help! I have a brand new xenon headlight with a shaky low beam...>
My car had a little accident back in June and one of the headlights was replaced with a new unit. This new headlight would shake whenever I hit a bump and words cannot describe how much it annoys me.
I brought the car back to Dick's Auto Body in Boston and they took the headlight out and compared it to my old xenon with cracked tabs, they said they tightened a few parts. No luck, it still shakes.
They order another new headlight and install it yesterday. They said the low beam is much tighter than the other one. I took it for a drive last night and it is about 50% better than before, but it still shakes and annoys the f*ck out of me. Meanwhile my original driver's side headlight from '02 is rock solid. I got back from my test drive and decided to open up my broken xenon and get a better understanding how the low beam is attached to the housing. It looks like there are two pivot points at the top of the low beam and the auto-leveler attaches at the bottom. I noticed that the only room for slop is where the auto-leveler attaches.
I called the shop this morning with the bad news and they are going to see what they can do. At this point ordering another headlight is an option, but it still might shake. I think they are going to contact the dealer's parts department and see what they can do.
Has anyone had a shaky low beam that they've successfully fixed? What did you do? I don't plan on taking apart a brand new $1,000 headlight, but I would like to pass the information on to whoever does.
