For anyone who is putting off new tires...just do it
I just replaced a set of Cooper Zeons that the dealer put on before I bought the car (2002 ttqc), with Bridgestone 960as's. I'd been putting it off for a long time, just didn't feel like spending the money.
The difference is amazing. Granted these are new and they'll wear in, but wow.
The Bridgestones are quiet, smooth, more supple - feel like they are far more compliant in the footprint to grip better but the sidewall isn't giving up sloppiness.
The Zeons were crap from the get go - cheap, loud and not very sticky - and that's why the lousey dealer stuck them on.
It was definitely worth dropping $720 (Tirerack, shipping, install, disposal, all in).
Would I rather have full on summer tires? Yes, but for now these are a good compromise.
