Cooling weirdness...
not sure if the instrument cluster is giving false readings or what, but the needle is not staying staying erect. Maybe it needs a little Viagra. But every now and then the needle will dip toward the cool side on the gauge. Yesterday is the second time I have noticed this. Now I do have a coolant leak somewhere, but I think things would get hotter, not colder! I'm probably loosing 3-4 oz. of coolant each day(diluted).

The first time this happened to me...
it was a stuck thermostat. I replaced it and the problem went away.
This recently happened again and this time (thankfully) it was a bad green top temperature sender. Replaced that and it's perfectly in the middle.
There were slightly different symptoms when it happened...
When the thermostat was stuck open, my car would begin to heat up in traffic (go over the middle mark) and then be below the middle mark while moving.
The second time, the mark was always one notch below... no variation.

Now it all is making sense.
when I had the water pump replaced- the thermostat wasn't. Apparently that could now be the culprit. I suspect some leaking around that area. Hmmm? Damn, I wish I had a VAG.COM!
