Check engine light and dip stick shows oil 1" over fill mark

This is my A6 3.0 by the way. Had the oil changed about 3K miles ago and it always read normal on the stick ( at each gas up). Checked it 3 times after check engine light went on (level ground)and it always read the same 1" over. What you think ?

Now it ran just fine for 2mi. till I got home and still runs smooth.

that's good

my advice... if you're absolutely sure it's high on the stick, do an oil/filter change, and keep an eye on it.

what code is it throwing? could be unrelated to the oil level.

This is probably a stupid post, but if the PCV valve was bad, could pressure push oil up the tube?
