Default Looking for comments on HPA Haldex controllers and Haldex life.

A little background - long time AWD2A8 and C5A6 participant, pretty hands-on (did my own timing belts, suspensions, etc.), have recently bought an A3, and am interested in the orange HPA controller.

I figure enough folks here have had the blue controller long enough to have some comments on this subject.

Obviously, you're going to be using the Haldex clutch a lot more with this set up. With regular fluid/filter changes, can I still expect good life out of the clutch plates? If they die, how replaceable/rebuildable are they? Or do you just go buy a new (or salvage yard used) Haldex?

Thanks in advance for commentary.

Default A3 uses 2nd Gen Haldex - TT - first Gen. Don't know of the physical difference internally

but I would assume that if you change the fluid and filter every 20k you'll probably be fine. Also depends on how aggressive you drive.

Default Yes, I understand that.

I also figure they're similar enough that the high-mileage guys with HPA from the Gen 1 TT world might have some idea of longevity.

Default No hard evidence that i've seen here or on the R32 board on Vortex to suggest and reduction in

the unit's function due to either the blue or orange units being installed. Again - i'd suspect durability is more a function of regular service.

Default What little I can find seems to indicate the same.

Service the thing, change the fluid, and it seems really strong.
