AirbagSystems reset - Airbag light still on!! ??? :(

Hi everyone,

Recently had Airbag Systems reset my airbag module, and I installed it today and cleared the codes (yay - no more Airbag fault code!!) but <b>the airbag light won't go off!!</b>

Any suggestions?

ull love this ...........

time to get a new air bag controller and make sure u don't scan it ever again. its kind of a odd problem that once the light comes on the controller stores a permanent code and has to be replaced. most vag-com's will prompt you about this issue before they will let u scan a air bag controller even.

i get lots of guys who scan the air bag in there car just for grins cuz they have a vag-com. then get all bent the light never gos off again.

Will the airbag still function even with the light on?

Or is it completely inoperable?

Sigh...if I don't scan it, how can I find out what's wrong??

Contrary to carsluTT's experience, I've scanned my airbag control module many times without breaking anything. Vag-com triggering an airbag module's fault code is specific to certain VW models, but not our TTs according to the Ross-Tech site.

But I did have a problem with the airbag light in the instrument cluster, which is why I scanned the control module in the first place (the light stayed lit or flickered on cold starts for several minutes even though the airbag module never had any stored codes).

Try this: scan the airbag module and instrument cluster for fault codes. You probably won't find any. Even if you find no fault codes, press the [Clear codes] button anyway. This may turn off the airbag light--it fixed my airbag light problem.

If not, you may have to follow carsluTT's advice and replace the module.
