Default Brake light switch - stuck with brake lights ON - changed twice, still problem. Any help?

Per earlier threads - ordered the switch (1C0 945 511 A) from Audi and they gave me a green one. Installed it, not working... returned, they gave me a different one (apparently same part number but something else was different) this one was purple... not working either.

Questions:

what is the diff. between the green one and purple one?

any thoughts what else can I try? With the old switch the lights are constantly on. with the new ones (both green and purple) they are not turning on. It's not the fuse, and I do press the switch to test.

Thanks for your help!

Default There is a special process for installing...

Is this what you are following? Maybe the setpoint is not getting set properly, especially if you are pushing on the switch as a method of testing.

https://forums.audiworld.com/tt/msgs/1714507.phtml</a

You have to be very careful when installing. It's easy to break the switch.

Default Thanks JeTT 180QC

I will try again, I probably broke the second one and the first one was just bad.

Default VW dealer has newer part, easier to install and can be used more than once.

Part was less than $5 at my local VW dealer. Sorry, I don't remember what color it was, best guess=purple. No sweat installation--and if you screw it up, you can remove it and reinstall.

After reading your original post, you may have this one already... which means I've no clue as what's vexing your car.
