StopTech brakes crack front rotors on S4's. Saw it on several S4's at RA.

Is it because the rotors are bad? One owner was upset that it happened and wondered if the car would make it home to Minnesota. Maybe bad batch of rotors from StopTech? Guys in Subbies were cracking up and boasting about their Brembos.

Every single one was drilled.

IIRC...Brembo "drilled" rotors are cast with the holes, not truly drilled. No sure about StopTech?

Maybe that is why the STi's did not have the problem.

What if they cut the holes with a "Water-Jet",

would that help with the cracking due to heat related damage from the drilling that leads to failure?
Casting seems so archaic.
Zimmerman's c/d's and no cracking yet.....

I agree with your theory.

Waterjet would be the way to go, but even though the water does cool the substrate being cut, there is some heat involved. That said, it's much less than the heat generated by improperly drilled holes.

Slotted is the way to go anyway...
