I have a 2001 A6 2.8Q (46K miles) on the OEM stock tire good year RSA and time for a change now...
I am thinking of Continental Extreme Contact and wondering should i do a zero up (from 205 55/16 to 215 55/16) - Any suggestions ?Is it good to go up ? Any recommendations on tires and shops ?

(If you are looking for an all-season tire, skip the Conti's as they suck in the winter. The Conti's are not my favorite tire, but they are quiet.) I was confused with the Conti Sport Contact - which pretty much sucks at everything. I have no personal knowledge on the Extreme; however, based on my experience witht he Sport Contact, I would have to assume that there are better tires out there.
Try the Michelin Pilot Sport A/S - it's probably the best A/S tire that actually almost performs similar to a sumer tire.
And Tirerack is the place to go - talk to Luke ext 362. He may give you different advice, but I would defer to his expertise.
Turanza LS - V
Yokohama Avid V4S
Avon Tech M550
the Turanza will be better long term but, the Avid will be very good for approx. half the life of the tire and will offer slightly better steering .... the Avon will offer the best performance but worst tire life
and plus size to 225/50-16
I switched from Yoko to Continental Extreme contact on Subaru ... I have 25K miles on it and they are still good. Since i have not tried other brnads ... any suggestions will be great.
I want something that is safer in Rain and Snow.
Thanks for the suggestion. What would be the diff between having a 215/55-16 vs 225/50 -16 ? The OEM was 205/55 -16 (Goodyear RSA).
I value Snow/Rain traction more than anything else. What would you do if that was your cheif concenr
I have seen your shop from I80/90 ... Perhaps i should make a trek...
