Good News: followup on the Jump Start from Hell
I got a call this morning from Al at Chicago Performance and Tuning. He took our car's on-board computer (ECU) out of the car, intending to swap it with another car like ours in order to eliminate that concern once and for all, but another car like ours never became available. So he put the ECU back in, and on a hunch I guess, drove the car. It's working perfectly, or like he said, "Like it was a new car"!!!
As it should... the car's only got around 24,000 miles on it.
Well, Al's put 50 miles on the odometer, cuz even he is surprised that it was that easy. He wants to keep it another couple of days, just to be on the safe side, to road test it some more. I have to admire their thoroughness over at CPT. So I said fine, and I'll be around on Friday to pick 'er up. He then even offered to pick me up at the train station near them on Friday; practically insisted on it. I am impressed!
Could he somehow even know that it's my birthday on Friday?
Anyway...
Total cost? Not the $2,100 the dealers wanted to charge for changing out a "trans valve body". Not the $1,400 it would have cost for the ECU part alone. No, he's charging us $80. That's it!
"Do an oil change, while you're at it!" I exclaimed in glee. I figure anyone with that much automotive acumen deserves my business for the oil change which would be needed soon, anyway.
Thanks to everyone on this forum who pointed me in the right direction for this vexing problem.
And thanks to Al and the guys over at CPT.<ul><li><a href="https://forums.audiworld.com/lrqc/msgs/53808.phtml">Previous Thread</a></li></ul>

This much is not disputed: I park here monthly at a cost of $200/month, gave my car to System Parking personnel who returned it fried, and who weren't even going to say anything about jumping the car to get it started.
Thank goodness the wife picked it up that night, I would have driven right out. She always jams a tape in first, and the stereo was dead. When she questioned the porter, he came over and started his sentence with, "The truth be told..."
Well, the truth be told he said he had to jump it to get it started down there in the bowels of the Hyatt Regency garage where no-one could see what he did. Now he tells her?
So far I have not been reimbursed a nickel from System Parking. It has cost me over $1400 to fix this damage. And that's a lot for me right now.
Update: Guess we'll be adding legal fees to money owed us by System Parking.
