Rear damage may not be as bad as we originally thought...
Looks like all the damage is superficial. Still expensive though. They are up to just over $8,000. Pretty steep for a slow crash with no airbags deployed on any car. Rear hatch needs to be replaced, as do all the rear bumper parts, the exhaust, the front bumper and the bumper shocks. They haven't gotten into the broken seat yet, or the fact that the air suspension is inop. So it'll still probably be $10-12K. But no structural damage at all.
BTW- Sorry I haven't returned your call. All you-know-what broke loose at work and I've been jammed here. I'll talk to you when i return. Found an old Excellence article that talks about swapping rear torsion bars in a 944. And I found my old specs on how much to change the spring plate angle for each mm of size increase on torsion bar size. Going from 25 to 31 on my car, I was dead on with the right side and off just 1/2" on the left. So the numbers from 15 years ago still work. Will make it much easier on yours.
