They have found a much better home. I was looking at the A8L this weekend. The cupholders are just behind the center MMI thing. An improvement, as they hold 2 & one can be used for larger-based drinks.

Probably under the "wood" flip-up door in front of the center armrest. See interior picture #2.

Look at this pic...
