Painless dealer visit yesterday.
Had a 2004 A4 3.0 for a loaner and when I came back to pick the allroad up, there was RS6 also being picked up (yummy).
Also, if anyone is looking for a used S6, they have one available (Schaumburg Audi).
They wanted a $6,000 premium over market on a particular used allroad they had in stock and would not deal. They were also similarly overpriced on repeated attempts to purchase from their used inventory (even from different sales people).
I eventually purchased a car that was identical in every way PLUS had nav, for 5,000 less than the best deal I could negotiate from them. Frankly, I'm not sure if I was playing a weak hand, or if the used sales group was particularly firm in their dealings - but the price gap between market and their asking was too much for me to overcome.
Maybe it's endemic to the Midwest - in my allroad seach, I found that Plaza Motors in MO has a similar approach, and a similarly unrealistic view of pricetags on cars.

I share your frustration with Plaza though--tried to deal with Mike Wendt on a number of occasions there and he was no good at all.
Perhaps buying at year end helped my leverage with them.
(shrug) Who knows.
I have met Mike, and his predecessor, at Plaza. At the time, however, I was dealing with a floor salesguy, Jim Carpenter (nice enough, a little presure, mostly trying to get me to give up options I wanted). I think he talked to you about the same allroad (the certified 01 without the sunroof?)

Did they finally sell it? Baron BMW has an 01 on their lot here in Kansas City at the moment--I drove it last August and they wanted like 37.5 for it, they are down to 29 something now!

I have no experience trying to buy a used car from them. I purchased the TT new from them (and it was right after the TT first came out so no price negotiating) and I bought the allroad used from a non-Audi dealer.
