Wheel bearing update
Well, I'm pretty sure now that my problem is wheel bearing related and not differential related. I can't figure out which wheel bearing in the back is bad (can't pinpoint the sound), but I found that the sound goes away when turning to the right. Any thoughts?

Jack up the car..........
grab the tire @ 3 & 9 O' clock. See if theres play?
Grab the tire at 12 & 6, see if theres play.
Place car on jack stands. Remove wheel & tire.
Remove brake caliper & rotor. See if there's play in the hub/bearing.
If its a bearing, it should be rather easy to pinpoint which side! ;o)

funny thing
Last WE I put my car up on 4 stands to figure out for sure which wheel bearing I needed to replace. so I put it in 1st while up in the air and sound was definitely from the right rear wheel. So I took the brakes and rotor off then spun it by hand a few times and strangely the noise wasn't from the wheel hub... It was from my exhaust pipe hanging on the rear axle! The axle had <i>just</i> finished wearing a hole through the pipe @#$%^. Shoulda looked at it a week before

Hehe, same thing happend to me a couple months ago
couldnt figure it out, thought it i had no pads left and was getting metal on metal contact. Closure examination revealed a hole in my brand f_ _kin new brullen exhaust. Oh well, I'll just weld it up when it gets warm out.

yeah, I saw your post when I was searching archives I thought 'damn wish mine was that easy'
An hour later I discovered it was! haha. One of the hangars just came off the hook. Now I'll get to choose a new exhaust...
