Timing tweaks for an '89 90q20V (Hitachi)
Way back in the dim, dark recesses of my brain I recall that there's a simple modification (the addition of some sort of by pass resistor, I think) that can be done to the air-mass sensor (or maybe some other sensor) to fool the ECU into thinking that the ambient temperature is lower than it actually is. The upshot of which is more aggressive timing and therefore more power if you use high octane petrol and pinging if you use regular fuel.
So, as I only seem to use 98ron fuel these days, has anyone else heard of this mod? If so, do have any details, or even better, a web link for such a mod?
