it's the end of the engine life when there is no compression

i wouldn't waste money on a rebuild. change the oil, put in some RESTORE additive, and drive that thing to the grave.

and learn how to use the internet.

I'd actually be thinking about getting a newer 2.0L 3A code engine depending on how bad the shavings

are. I'd also put a magnetic drain plug in the oil sump in order to try and keep the shavings from being circulated. Could also put magnets on the oil filter and do some pretty frequent oil changes to try and remove as much of the shavings as possible.
