Want to switch Audis - Help!

I am under finance for another pretty long time, couple years, for my 99 A4 2.8... However, I want to switch to a 2000 A4 1.8 (and maybe even save a little?). How does this work with the dealership will I lose a ton of money, what can be done to go about switching. Hypothetically, If they had the car I was looking for and did swap does that help situation at all?

I imagine your best bet would be to try and sell your current car, pay off your loan and start fresh

you'll get less if you trade in, though you can apply teh neagtive equity to the new loan balance. How much do you owe?

You don't say if you are leasing or buying but I doubt you will save any money.

Don't forget sales tax

If you use your current car as a trad-in, you will only have to pay sales tax on the difference between the value of the trade-in and the cost of the new car.

Usually, I look at this as a trap. Dealers know this and offer you less on the trade-in as a result. They also prey on our desire for a quick transaction to further lower your trade-in value.

I've always sold my current car myself and bought from private individuals. Time is never a factor in my decisions (my wife hates this).

I'm buying (in process) of preowned 99...

i owe about 34 months, I'd have to look up how much the monthly payment is I'm not sure. Is it just flat out not worth it then? My cars worth about $22k, if I was to trade it in what would I get, and then even if I was to get a '00 at 1.8 for $19k would I still lose compared to trade in? THanks

Your car is worth about $21K at a dealer in a good market. trade in..

.. is probably $16-18K. If you can sell your car privately it's close, the dealer isn't gonna do a lot to make less than 2 grand.The used car market sucks, unless you have problems with your V6 why sell it (oh yeah we probably want to chip it)
