I'm getting a single click when I lightly touch the brakes...
A few weeks ago I swapped out the OEM rotors and pads and put the powerslots and hawks on for a track event. At that time I did not use any disc brake quiet compound. A was getting a faint popping noise from the front driver's side caliper when apply or releasing pressure from the brake pedal, wether the car was moving or not. Just a slight change in pedal pressure would make it pop.
Last week I took it apart, I discovered that the 3 prong spring on the inboard pad was loose, allowing it to move around a little inside the piston. I stretched it out a little so it was a tight fit, did the same thing to the other side of the car, and put permatex on the outboard pads.
That helped stop the squealing alot, but now I get a single click when I apply the brakes. Almost sounds like a small rock is thrown up and hits the wheel well liner. I can just barely feel it in the brake pedal. It does not click every time I hit the brakes lightly, but it does seem to do it more often when the car has been sitting for a while and the brakes are cold.
Any ideas what this is? Is it a normal noise? The pedal is nice and firm and the car stops very well.
Does the permatex hold up well? The it seems like the car is starting to squeal more than right after I put the permatex on.
if you hit a solution worth doing, post.
