odd exhaust question - NA 2.8L
When I went to a larger diameter cat back exhaust on my NA (normally aspirated/no turbo) 2.0 golf, I lost torque.
Would I get more torque on a NA 2.8 by switching to a more restrictive exhaust?

It is always better to get a engineered system

The most restrictive part of the 2.8 exhaust is the resonator.
I have heard the claims of 10-15hp gains with cat back systems and no one mentioned any loss of torque.
But you are right with your assumption - one does loose low end torque with a large dia exhaust system.
I am happy with my Remus muffler. Sound is great and the looks are nice too.
