Default Looking at gtting a 4000CS Quattro... but questions... please help!

Well, after a lot of debating, I'm most likely going to be getting an 86 CSQ for $1200. It needs a little work here and there, mostly just a good cleaning and tuneup, but I did have a few questions.

Question #1 The shifter feels a little sloppy, and when moving, it's sometimes a little hard to get the shifter into 2nd gear, or 1ss right after I've stopped. Is this common? and would this be fixed by something like a short shifter?

Question #2 Who makes a good short shifter, and where can I order it?

Question #3 How much fun do you guys have with your Audis?

Default Shifters

Probably the linkage bushings are shot. The quatt may or may not use the same setups as the CGT; you can see pictures of them on my web site that details the mods on my car. One is repairable, one is replacement only. A short shifter won't fix the problem, as it deals with the other end of the linkage (at your hand).
I just put a different **** on mine and am happy enough with it. The only short shifter I'm aware of is from Blaufergnugen (www.audiquattroparts.com). Have never driven one so can't comment on it.
I have lots of fun with my car. Like it so much I put a roll bar in it and race it in hill climbs and track events now. It's not fast, but is so pleasant to drive I really don't care. No problem catching Camaros/Mustangs/Vettes in the twisties, but wave goodbye in the straights.

Default short shift

i have the blau short shift kit in and i would definitly recommend it, the throws arent thaaat short but its and imrovement. i think it got rid of some of the play in the shifting too, just due to the change in the angle of the shifter linkage. my downshifts into second and 1st also require some effort but thats been pretty constant in whatever i drive so i think its normal. as for fun.. i love these cars.. i have 2 and im lookin for another one. and on the windy roads they are no joke.. ive blown the doors off plenty muscle cars around the turns.

Default shifting

i had the shifting problem with my 4kcsq as well. it will just get worse.
to fix it, however. lift the actual clutch pedal toward you, and prop it up with something.
then fill your hydraulic oil.
it will work... trust me... unless it's your synchro... that would suck.

Default Part Numbers?

Dwight, I went to your site and was looking through your shifter upgrade. I didn't see any of the part numbers there for your new assembly or the bushings. Do you happen to have those written down some where that you could share with us?
