Solid lifter update....

<center><img src="http://pictureposter.audiworld.com/54386/img_3010.jpg"></center><p>Well, I took a better look at the head (with casting number 035-105-373C) and have been able to identify it as a solid lifter head, however it doesn't appear to be a direct replacement to the WX head. The distributor mounting appears to be totally different. The distance between the distributor mounting, and the drive gear is much shorter, and the gearing teeth are slightly different. Also the camshaft is different(#4 bearing is wider than the WX's). Bummer! To my knowledge, I don't believe that the Urq will run with a different distributor, but I could be wrong. Does anyone have an idea what engine code this head might be? Even if I can find a distributor that will work, I don't want to put an unknown quantity into the car.

That would be the "long head"

5cyl up to early 1981 used these heads. If you can find a head from the early 5000t 81A 0300 000 and up you will find yourself in possesion of a WR camshaft.

anything special about the WR camshaft?

would that come in an 84 5kqt?

Euro Urq used the WR engine

Longer duration on intake side compared to the US emissions cripled WX. WR cam+12.5 psi should nets an additional 40hp

Here is the 5kt's that had WR cam

Nope, not '84. Look for 1982 0r '83 MY 5000T. Chassis # F43-B-000 001 and up.. It is possible there are earlier heads that work you will nedd to do the research

The block should be marked with # WK 011 331 through WK 018 876 Head should be a direct replacement and do use the WK cam. This cam is the same as those used in the WR.

RedBelliedJet got one of the earlier heads with the wrong dist. drive grear.

So are you thinking this may be a complete WR head? If so, I would figure that it's installation would possibly cause my car to fail smog (that's why they changed the cam to the WX cam). Would this also mean that the WR distributors are different from the WX? I am curious if this is an application which will work with the WX CIS and bottom end.
