So, as you can see. The 1.8T has a shorter first, second, and third gear. Fourth is very similar, and fifth is is taller in the 1.8T.
So the six speed is not "just another gear" though it's not terribly different.

I would like it to cruise at 80 on the highway at 2500 or less, now it is at or slightly over 3000.
Aren't these cars geared differently in europe since they get to haul *** on zie autobahn???

How do you like it?? Is their much low end torque?
Is the clutch similar to the 1.8t? Does the tranny shift nicely? And, where are the back speakers in an Avante??
Well, the 3.0 felt like a completely different car. Handling, road noise, etc. I much prefered the 3.0 to the 1.8T, but of course you'd have to for the extra money.
CHIP CHIP CHIP. That's what the board will say, and I am all for it. I just think there's a time and a place for each and the opininion around here is that the 3.0 is not worth it, unless you plan to stay stock. The difference is so much more intangible than that. Just choose which you prefer, and that's it.
Low end was great on the 3.0. The A4 has never really been known for it's smooth transmission, but it looks like the new S4 will be a whole different story. I didn't have as much time as I would like behind the wheel, so I shouldn't comment too much.
Just go for a drive and see how you like it.
Mike
