springs?????

i need to lower my car. i have a 2003 1.8. i didnt get it with the sport package. i was thinking about getting the h & r sport springs but i dont know if it will be a ****ty ride. Coilovers are a lot of $$$$ so id like to just get the springs. WHAT SHOULD I DO????
