What a day at the track. Came in second in my category. The course was very fast, I had to use....
I had first place in sight but screwed up badly in my last run, bad start but I could have lived with that, but one major mistake at the end of one section when slowing down from 70 mph (I hit the brakes too late), the car hit the dusty/dirty part of the track and I just avoided knocking down several cones under heavy braking but the car understeered heavily under acceleration existing the curve and I blew away big time in that section. The car was certainly able to do a much better time and I should have won the category and perhaps come within a very few tenth of the overhall fastest time of the day. Too bad this driver wasn't up to speed! Overall it was still an excellent day for me, however one driver was not so lucky, he's going home to night (at least 200 miles away)without his car. The chap rolled and semi flipped his Swift to end up lying on the side, on the driver's side.
In the panic of the moment he kept his foot on the gas pedal as the car was rolling and skiding along the track. After it came to a rest with the engine still at max rpm, lots of blue smoke from the tire spinning against the pavement, from the engine and exhaust was seen until the engine blew. Final result was the car is most likely scrap metal now, caved in roof and blown engine. BTW the chap is ok but shaken up. A few beers at the restaurant and a long ride home should calm him down.
That all folks
