ok, new/old steering vibration problem. Please help. (long)

So, I developed a vibration in my steering wheel over the winter when I had my winter tires on my car. These tires were mounted on 16 inch steelies. Had the wheels balanced again and it didn't go away. I put on my stock 17's with stock continental sports and the vibration went away. Well, now it feels like it is coming back but not as bad as it was before. And the 17's were balanced and rotated. The dealer said my alignment is fine, but I am not convinced they actually did an alignment check, because I was not charged for one. Is it possible that a problem with my alignment could cause a slight vibration. Its not a vibration that seems similar to an imbalnced wheel. I was towed once over the winter from the front of my car, but underneath at the subframe, not from the tow hook in the front bumper. I soon developed the vibration after this. I even told the dealer this, and they made a visual inspection of everything and said it was fine. They even checked for loose bolts. Anyway, I'm at a loss of what to do. I'm thinking of doing an alignment at a different shop if any can recommend one in the northeastern NJ area. Again, any help is appreciated.
