quarts of oil for a 2000 A4 2.8?

My friend has a 2000 A4 2.8. We picked up a 6 pack of mobil 1 at BJ's and he had his service dealer change his oil. The dealer later called him and said his car takes 7 quarts of oil... is that true? My 1.8t only takes 4 quarts of oil. Anyone know?
