Whats diff between lowering car with springs and shocks vs coilovers?

Default Whats diff between lowering car with springs and shocks vs coilovers?

Cost for each? Benefits and setbacks to each? I think with the coilovers you can adjust on your own (with a special tool), correct? And springs and shocks are set at a cerain height and thats it you'll have to live with it, right?

Default Correct about height adjustment...

There's also the fact that CO's have perfectly matched springs and shocks.

You pay for any kind of adjustability, so height adjustability of CO's cost more than springs/shocks, you add rebound damping adjustment and it'd cost more, add compression damping adjustment as well and even more money's needed.

"Setback" for CO is that you have to spend the time to do the adjustments properly, or you could end up having a car that handles worse than separate springs/shocks.

Default So the CO's are basicly custom built to your personal specifications?

The more you spend (money wise)the more you can fine tune it to get the ride height and ride quality (meaning stiffness or cushion)to your comfort...do i have that correct?

Default No no, CO's aren't built to your own specifications, at least not the common ones

It's just that the spring rates and damper's valving are matched. Now if you get Stasis Motorsport CO, sure, you can pick whatever sping rate and they'd valve the shocks accordingly for you.

But you got the "more you spend..." thing right. It's not just comfort that costs money though; performance does too...
