Front left turn signal went out yesterday. Stopped and popped the hood...

closed the hood, and mysteriously, it started working again. Then it went out again, about five minutes later.

AFAIK the bulb looks ok to me. Looks like a real bitch to replace. I assume the bulb isn't covered by warranty.

Should I take it into the dealer, or try to replace it myself?

Probably just a loose connection

Same thing happened to me. Filament looked fine, assumed it was a faulty connection and took it to the dealer. The tech came out, gave the light housing a good open-handed thump...and everything was back to normal.

He said that happens alot with the B6 and that it's usually just a bad connection.

I've had more electrical problems than you can shake a stick at.

This is getting to be ridiculous. I'm going to go give it a jiggle/thump and see if it helps.

Went out and gave it a solid thump. Started working immediately.

I just played this game a couple weeks ago.

The bulb would fail/work/fail.

Figured out what to do:
The bulb lives in this little barrel-shaped housing. It has three metal contacts that match to 3 metal tabs in the assembly.

I used a small screwdriver (a pick would have been better) to bend the tabs in the headlamp assembly up a bit so they'd "grab" the barrel-shaped bulb housing better.

Problem solved.

I had the headlight out but plugged in and found the bulb would go out if I wiggled the housing.
