Heading to the glen manana. Any info on rt 17 detours/construction/etc?

Default Heading to the glen manana. Any info on rt 17 detours/construction/etc?
I'm thinking about 80 to 81 to avoid 17 almost entirely.


Thoughts?

Default I am taking rt 17. Asked a couple poeple and the construction isnt that bad.
Besides, a country side ride on a sunday afternoon should be nice.

Default Last year I took 80/380/81/17 it was about 4 hours no real issues (mainly woods)
Figured I'd go 17 if there were no repaving/detours/etc as is usual for this road.


I guess I'll decide as I leave...

Default Try to get there before 5 (that's when tech closes). Getting tech'ed on Monday may be difficult
If I take 17, silver '01 B5 A4 Avant

Default I am going to come home the Interstate route since I am driving back Tuesday when we finish.
Interstate will be better at night and less deer to dodge.

Default Not so sure about that as 380 and 81 take you through the pocono's
very woodsy and perhaps deer-filled as well.

Plus, these aren't very busy highways.

Look for a large Chevy pickup with the car below on a trailer, with a STi Ver.4 behind :-)

Default 380 is amazing...no cops long stretchs clear visibility
when i had my a6 i took it for a "test run" at 6 am...no cars 5 mile visibility downhill (SE)

Default There's a bunch of one lane sections but not much traffic so it's not too bad
at least when I was on it last week
