Warning stickers on visors: Has anyone managed to get them off?

I tried on my A6, and made a complete mess of it. I think they are shrunk on, not stuck on with
an adhesive. So if you try to peel it off, you might get through the edges, then it will start to tear, and it ends up looking like complete crap (like mine)

Back in December there was a post about this.
Basically the proceedure involved putting masking tape to isolate the sticker. Then a product I think was called "GOOP" remover was used to soften and remove the sticker.I remember this because I was tempted to try it. Maybe the archives will give you the proper technique?
