im not sure where this happend cause i didnt notice until today. but as im goin to my car i notice that my drivers side mirror has a scratch on it about 1 inch long at 1 point its a bit deeper and goes into a real small faded line. im kind of pissed cause i usually do a walk around b4 i get in.. im almost positive it was the car wash i took it to. but they washed it outside by hand but i cant take it back now cause i didnt see them doin it and theyll say i didnt do it.......
are scratches able to be polished off on these mirrors or im i gonna have to replace the alum. housing...i wish i could live with it but i cant

These mirrors are VERY soft. The aluminum will chip and speck very easily.
Hitting a beetle at highway speeds is enough to put a chip in the housing. You can try and buff, polish, wax it out. Nobody will probably notice it, but I know how it is, YOU will notice it everytime you walk out to the car.
The housing are sold individually I think at VAGPARTS.com, but they are $$$$.

Re: i was thinking last night since i own a machine shop i
was gonna try to sand it out then go with steel wool or scotch brite over it to give it the same finish then if it doesnt loog good ill replace it..
ill keep every1 posted if i find something that works good..............
