Default Telling Insurance companies about modifications?

Do we need to tell our car insurance of the mod's we have done to our cars? What are the implications of not doing so? Can I still claim for all the damage if the mods were damaged in a car crash? Just planning ahead to make sure I am covered.

Default AMEX... is that what you mean?

Not sure of exactly the details. I am fully covered though. I do remember when getting my S4, the insurance company wanted to know if I had done any modifications.

Default Not sure what AMEX is but i had state farm and....

I got my car stolen a long time ago and they covered everything, i mean everything I had done to the car. All they wanted from me was the receipts. I ended getting 43,000 for my car that was worth about 30 tops.
My friend had mercury insurance and they didn't give him anything for the aftermarket parts he had on because he never let the insurance company know.

So i guess my point is, if your insurance company is rated high then you will be okay. if it sucks then you better let them know.

Default I recall hearing of insurance companies not covering drivers who crash a modded car

Supposedly the fine print of our policies say something about only covering the car as it came from the factory (in terms of performance) and only dealer installed OEM upgrades are acceptable.

Default I filled out a form and put down all the parts that I've added to the car

and their values. I was insuring the car for a while at $75K (which was the car's value + the cost of all the mods), now I'm around $50K IIRC. But they will cover the FULL value of the car, including the mods because I filled out the special form. You can do the same, just call your insurance company.

Your car is lookin good btw!

Default Did you premium go up a lot?

I know the premium is based on a lot of factors, just wondering if it went up by a large margin. Thanks.
