In speaking with a local Audi dealership Sales manager about the Q7...
They'll have to draw customers from the Toureg and Cayenne(counter productive), and to some extent Lexus, Infinity, and BMW SUV's.
One final note, this is an American market(SUV's) almost exclusively. So, it has to debut well here and get out of the gate strong. Otherwise, it could wind up a big cash hole for Audi.

A minivan was a horrifying realistic option there for a bit, but Mercedes just came out with a stretch version of its M class, and now there's the Q7. The R class Mercedes is a good people hauler, but has no room for cargo. Useless on a ski trip.
If Suburbans don'e come out in deisel before the Q7 hits the showroom, I'm hitting it.
