Importing an option?
Just wondering if anyone has gone into the procedure of importing an Audi from the UK?
As I'm sure most of you know, Audi's (used) are significantly cheaper over there than in OZ. Does anyone know how much in very general terms it would cost to import (eg: import tax, Aus compliance etc)?
I know that if the model was released here, you need to have owned the car in the UK for a certain period (I've heard 6 months and also a year). If the model was never commercially released here, apparently that law doesn't apply.
Basically I'm just looking to find out whether it's worth it. I'm particularly interested in a RS2. I realise they're rare - were they ever released here?

The rules have all changed in the last few years.
It used to be pretty straight forward if the car was never released here.
The rule of owning for 1 year has remained unchanged as has the rule for cars older than 15 years (but this one may change soon).
The new import scheme is called SEVS. Im not sure if you can do a one off import without getting an importers licence which required lots of $$$ and time.
Im a little hazy on the details, but if you go to http://www.prestigemotorsport.com.au/ he has lots of details on the current import scheme.
