My guess is the fuel pump is on the fritz and will be replaced. I'll keep you all posted when I learn more.
It was a sad sight watching the car being taken away on a flatbed this morning!
Also, when driving the car last night I noticed that when accelerating there was very abrupt changes in the amount of power and how smooth it was.
