1-2 Shift collar issue?
Some time after this, the trans was difficult to get into 2nd on a downshift from 3rd. Each issue is very sporadic, and doesn't happen most of the time.
At around 90K, the syncro for 3rd blew. The dealer replaced 1-4 syncros under my CPO warranty. Dealer said they'd only charge another hour for labor to install a new flywheel/clutch/pressure plate (which I supplied - stock replacement for germanautoparts).
3rd engages fine now - but the sporadic issue with 1st and 2nd still exist (though it seems to occur less often).
I brought the car back to the dealer, thinking my shifter needed adjustment. They had the technician who replaced my syncros take a drive with me (with him driving). He couldn't reproduce the issue in 2nd - but got 1st to not engage twice. He said it was normal, and that the syncro had to break in. I don't buy it, but maybe I'm wrong.
Does this sound like a shift linkage issue? I watched the video on JHMotosports about the 1-2 shift collar, and I wonder if the problem they explain is what I'm experiencing.
