p0421 and mileage. Piggie effort worh it? (poll)
It's weird, though. I can get maybe up to 10 consecutive drives in without throwing the code. The car seems to be running properly. And, I don't really notice a loss of power.
BTW: This is an '04 w/2.7t and MT6 w/96K miles.
I can get 25-27 on the highway (according to the computer) if I stay very close to the speed limit and stay to really light throttle (with the AC in econ mode).
Should the mileage be worse if the warmup cat was clogged? What I'm getting at here is I'm wondering if gutting the pre cats is worth the effort, considering my current condition. I don't mind clearing the code periodiclly. And, I might try the o2 sensor diode trick from the tech section to prevent the CEL entirely.
I'd like to start a poll: Who thinks gutting the pre cats is worth the effort (for mileage and performance) - considering I don't plan on chipping any time soon?
