Question about MPG and Fuel on a 4.2L

Alright. Weirdest thing.. After I hit 3/4 on the gas gauge my total miles till empty shows 190miles but I drove it so economical it went up to 275miles. But here is where it gets weird... because as it goes up to 275miles the gas gauge goes down.

Is it a problem with the meter in the tank? Because I had the marker right on a half tank and waited outside a friends house for 3 minutes and went down to a QUARTER! Its weird cause the way the car stays the gas meter moves lower or higher. Can I get this fixed?

I'd guess it is either the tank sensors or a faulty gauge in your cluster. VAG COM scan show anything?

I have a 2000 A6 4.2 Audi had a recall on fuel tank sending units. Mine worked very erratically unit it was replaced.

I dont have the VAG-COM thing. Kinda dont know how to use it either.. I heard of it but not ever got into it.

I just called Audi today and said I have no re-calls on my 01 A6.. I was disapointed cause I wanted it to be fixed via Audi and not me pay for it. So now i gotta pay for it.
