timing belt and chip question?
Also how do you know if the car is chipped? It seems to have a ton of power..
I'd normally change the toothed belt + tensioner bearing and the V-belt + tensioner bearing together at the same time, cause they both give the performance effect and the silent (new) sound to the engine.
This I apply to my A3 8L 1.6 engine and will also do this for my MK1 3.2 (chain driven I suppose) and wife's A4 B7 Avant.
as far as knowing if you have a chip, if you have a boost gauge, see what it goes to. stock on a 225 TT is 12psi. chipped is 17-19psi. or do a 3rd gear pull til it hits the rev limiter. if you get to 7k or 7200, you're chipped more than likely. stock is just after 6500. just don't check this in 1st or 2nd! things happen too fast.
